The Best Antioxidant

Most people know that we need an array of antioxidants for diets programs to help our body to repel a selection of major diseases and illnesses, such as cancers, heart disease and diabetes etc.
The best antioxidants, we are normally talking about eating those so-called super foods. It is because these specific foods supply us with rich antioxidants, that they are referred to as super foods, and they are many and varied.
This is a massive subject, so we need to aim our focus at a few super foods to get the taste for  improving our diets drastically. Some people will require a lot of change, whereas as others will just need to tweak their intake of certain foods.
The first area that we need to take some time over is fruits and we need to know the best that are available to us.The top fruits are berries, including the acai berry, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, cranberries and raspberries. These are all powerfully rich in healthy antioxidants, but generally most fruits are wonderful for antioxidants.Prunes, raisins and pomegranates also deserve a large mention here, but the key is eat lots of fruit.
The second area to examine is the vegetable world, as these foods are also extremely rich in antioxidants. The best vegetables are some of the highest in antioxidants if you were listing them in order. The bean family hold the bragging rights with great performers such as, dried red bean, red kidney beans, pinto bean and dried black beans. But high on any list will be kale, raw spinach, brussel sprouts and alfalfa sprouts.
The third area for antioxidants and a clear winner is healthy chocolate or cacao. But what is so special about chocolate. Well it is the healthiest food on earth and most people absolutely love chocolate.
The most important fact is that unprocessed cacao powder is by far and away the best antioxidant there is available, because it is a whole complete food and more antioxidants than any other food.Cacao has well over forty distinct nutrients and health-promoting compounds.
Unprocessed cacao powder is shown as a third more potent than the next contender, which is the acai berry. However processed cacao powder drops below the acai berry to third on the all time list of top antioxidants. I think the trick here is not to tamper with the cacao powder by subjecting it to the dutching process or adding such things as waxes or milk.
One of the massive challenges that healthy chocolate or unprocessed cacao powder faces is that word calories. It would be advisable to consume a limited amount of this food and not base your complete diet around this food. A balanced approach is called for here, but calories aside, I see no reason not to include the world's most favourite food into your diet at some stage.
It is always advisable to aim for a balanced and varied diet that includes lots of fruits, vegetables, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals and not base your nutrition on any one particular food or food group.
